What I can't understand is... why people would go to a website, such as mine, www.justiceforjennifer.com, and not take the time to read my story before they e-mail me. I do NOT like getting e-mails about being "sorry for my loss" or "sorry for my family's loss"
...I'm NOT dead!
I'm an ALIVE & WELL 27 year old woman on a mission to find the man that ATTEMPTED to murder me.
Key word: ATTEMPTED!
I hope this clears up the confusion! =)
Thanks to all of you who have written supportive e-mails, and signed my guestbook, your support and prayers are very much appreciated!
Peace,
Jennifer <3
p.s. - I have a big secret I'm keeping...hopefully I won't have to keep it much longer, and I'll be able to share it with you all!

This last week has been full of emotions, that have come from out-of-nowhere. I am, what I consider to be, a strong survivor. I've never wanted to play a poor, pitiful, victim role and want sympathy for what happened to me. I've always tried my hardest to make a "positive out of a negative" and turn the tables around, telling my story in hopes it may help someone else who has been a victim of a violent crime, or in hopes that it may educate just one more person, or because .every.single.person. I tell my story to will in turn tell someone else, who will tell someone else, until someone who knows something relevant to my case will call the police department and give the tip that cracks the case.
This is what I live for.
That moment where I get the call saying, "We've found him."
Because, at that moment, I know he will never touch another single little girl in his lifetime, and I'll be able to sleep better at night. I DON'T FEAR HIM, what I fear is ...what happened to me, being done to another innocent little girl, sleeping quietly in her bed at night. I guess living with the fear of other children going through what I went through, has built itself up inside of me and my emotions have shown this week.
At my Citizen's Police Academy meeting last week, I told my class an overview of my story, and before I even got to the front of the classroom, I started bawling crying. I know it IS okay to cry, but I'm just so used to trying to be strong, that I didn't fully understand, at that moment, why I was crying. And,. I don't want to give anyone an interpretation that has ever been in a traumatic situation to feel that it's not okay to cry or that it means you're weak, because it doesn't mean you are! I feel maybe I was out of my comfort zone, because that was the first time I got up infront of a large group of people and told them what happened to me. I'm used to telling one person, or two people at a time, my story. This time I was telling 20 or so strangers what I went through, but I must admit, when it was all over with, I felt so good that I fought through those tears, and still stood up there, and had just told 20 more people my story.
Part of the tears I cry are also out of anger...because what I don't understand is...how can you take a sleeping child from her bedroom, and rape her, and attempt to brutally murder her, and not eventually turn yourself in? How do you live with that?
Wait, I know the answer to that question.
You cannot bear to turn yourself in, because YOU ARE A COWARD! And YOU FEAR WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.
And, I want you to know that:
I AM STRONG
I AM A SURVIVOR
and
I WILL SPEND MY LAST BREATH LOOKING FOR YOU IF THAT IS WHAT IT TAKES.
I WILL STAND UP AND USE MY VOICE!
This is what I live for.

Giving back to the community..

For a long time, I've had this yearning to get involoved with my community and "give back" in a sense...so many people searched for me when I was missing, sent me cards or letters with words of encouragement while I was in the hospital, and there were fundraisers to help with medical bills, and, I have, at times, felt like there's a piece missing from my life...for some reason, I just haven't necessarily felt completely....complete. So, when I saw an ad in my local newspaper for The Citizen's Police Academy, I joined, and I LOVE IT! The class is so much fun so far, and very interesting, and makes me feel as though I'm doing something great within my community. We meet once a week for 15 weeks, and go over a different topic each time, relating to police work. I recommend it to all of you that are interested in seeing what police go through on a daily basis, if your community offers such a program. =)
Happy Holidays!

Wow, I just cannot believe that 2008 is nearly at it's end! This has been a very fulfilling, exciting year for me as the FBI chose my case along with 4 other "cold cases" to be worked on and my case was also taken over by Tim Cromie of the CID at Dickinson Police Dept., along with the FBI who have diligently worked on it since it's been in their hands and made a promise to me that they won't give up on it. I am hoping I will be able to share some "BIG" news on my case with you all hopefully at the beginning of 2009. This year has also given me a few opportunities to visit family in another state, and I've been in touch with family members that didn't even know I existed and I am starting to develop a relationship with them! Jonathan and I are also doing very well and he is the absolute love of my life...I can't imagine a day without him. I am forever grateful for everyone and everything God has put into my life, and owe everything to him. I hope you all have a very safe, and joyful holiday season - and keep checking back for updates! Thank you all for your support!

Needing to vent a little...

Sometimes, things are taken out of context, mistakenly. We all do it, but I just want to make sure everyone gets the right information when it's about something that has happened to me...so, with that said:
1) I was NEVER beaten by the man that kidnapped me. There are people now taking it upon themselves saying that I was, and as far as I know, over the course of the last 18 years, I've never heard of such or remember that happening, and I remember more about that night than most would, so, it's coming from me that that is NOT true. As if all that happened wasn't bad enough, now people are coming up with more to add to the story that is already enough in itself.
2) My case was NEVER closed and then re-opened. It's been open this whole time, and will be open until it is solved. Some of you are hearing that it was re-opened by the FBI, however, it's been open the last 18 years, and it was chosen by the FBI this year, amongst a total of 5 "cold"cases in the U.S., to be worked on, and hopefully solved within a year.
3) I don't know why the media keeps saying that my bedroom WINDOW was OPEN the night I was kidnapped through my bedroom window. MY WINDOW WAS CLOSED SHUT, AND LOCKED, and the curtains were drawn closed. So, I don't know where the media has gotten some of their information from, but my window being wide open...that just isn't true, either.
- just wanted to clarify these 3 things for everyone, as it bothers me when people receive information that isn't true.
Thanks everyone, again, for your support! Please continue to spread the word about http://www.justiceforjennifer.com/, and sign my guestbook if you haven't already!

Regaining My Voice...
Posted in on 12:03 PM by Jennifer
This blog site is titled "Jennifer's Voice" because after undergoing surgery on my neck and windpipe, doctors said that I was left permanently unable to speak. But, as we all know, God works miracles, and one day, laying in ICU, I got mad over not getting a candy bar that I wanted, and if you know me, you know I'm a choc-o-holic AND I can be a little demanding at times! I wanted a Twix bar, I was determined to get it. Frustrated, as you can imagine, at 8 years old, having to write everything down on paper, tired of undergoing tests and being hooked up to machines, I just wanted that piece of chocolate. I just wanted to SCREAM when I was told "no." So, I tried it...I tried screaming. When that didn't work, I tried calling out my uncle's name, hoping I'd come upon a voice and he'd hear me and give me what I wanted, and....wait! Something was happening! A "Ja" sound came out of my mouth. The next thing I knew, doctors were being called upon and rushed to my bedside as they put tubes down my nose and throat with cameras on the end, asking me to make animal sounds. "Alright, Jennifer, now Moo like a cow." "Quack like a duck." "Bark like a dog." ... nothing was working. Everyone must have just been imagining they heard me make a sound with the voice I no longer had. To make a long story short...soon after, I proved them all wrong, no one was imagining what was soon to come...I regained my voice, by the grace of God, and haven't been quiet since. Before regaining my voice, and afterward, I was able to give a description of my attacker.
From the descriptions I gave came these drawings that were done by a sketch artist:

Wow, I cannot believe I have a website up! Thanks to De, one of the greatest, most loyal friends I could ask for..you're an angel in my eyes! I definitely owe you, girl! What you've done for me and the site is incredible, and thanks to you, thousands of people can now read my story, and now there's even more of a chance we will get who did this to me, and save other girls from the same happening to them...together we are making a difference! =)
